Description

Anti-Pintadas is a photographic exploration born from a moment of subtle transformation in Seville’s urban landscape. This body is not merely a documentation of poorly executed urban maintenance; it is an invitation to consider how cities negotiate their own appearance. These patched surfaces become artifacts of civic desire, offering competing visions of cleanliness, and the everyday struggle to control the visual identity of public space. They also symbolize the paradoxes of a society grappling with polarization while relying on shared efforts to maintain the common good.

This work reflects my ongoing fascination with the overlooked and the unintended. The Anti-pintadas of Seville, and of cities worldwide, offer moments of accidental beauty, small interventions that hover between vandalism and restoration, chaos and repair. Through photographing them, I aim to celebrate these anomalous, ephemeral works of art and encourage others to look more closely at the visual delights that unfold around us unannounced.
